Flat skis

K2 Explorer Flat 09

The trend to system skis seems to be slowing. There are more great skis that can be bought flat than in recent years. I think it is a good thing. If you pick your binding carefully you can create a lighter ski and binding combination that does not develop slop with lots skiing days.
Does anyone remember the Atomic Metron B5 or the Nordica Hellcat. Very heavy. Flat skis with binding like the Marker Duke will be lighter and open doors to more varied skiing. My favorite ski is a Stockli Storm Rider XXL with Marker Jester Bindings. A light ski and binding combination that skis great in all types of snow.

Here is a list of some of the flat skis for 09: I am not listing park and pipe skis, and new school type skis since they all come flat. There really are lots of flat skis. Armada does not make a system ski. Before you buy consider a non system ski.
