The Ski Problem?

If your a bit crazy like me, this time of the year you find yourself constantly thinking about what equipment you want to ride this year.. Its a bit obsessive but everytime i walk into a shop or open up one of the countless magazines there are in the industry, im looking for just a little more info to help me decide..... constantly looking for a difinitive answer as to what to buy. This decision sometimes weighs on me as if it were the decision to live or die; us diehards know how that feels, scared to choose in fear of making the wrong decision.... Yet this morning i had an epiphany...

Yea it would be great to get a custom pair of folsom skis made to my exact specs, but who has the money; one, and honestly that would create a whole different problem in trying to determine all the dimensions and what not... so lets move on! (check it out at www.folsomskis.com )

Think about where you ski 90% of the time, i mean where you really ski not where you wanna ski... be real about this. Think about what you value in a good ski in those conditions, whether it be soft and playful or stiff and rigid, really think about it.

Now, every company makes a ski to fit you, honestly all kidding aside they do. Go to your local shop or check out proctorjones.com and find something that works. If you ski on trail, but like the trees and ocassionaly travel out west or play in the soft stuff, get a ski that is a bit wider than what your use too. A ski in the 85mm to 90mm range is great in every condition, as long as it has shape. If your in the park all the time, but still like to ski, stay away from symetrical, i repeat stay away from symetrical, there are plenty of park skis out there that are not symetrical....

I could go on for days, but especially us east coasters need a ski that can do everything, there are plenty, stay in that 85 to 90 range with tons of shape, and base the stiffness off how you ski....

check out the nordica enforcer, k2 fujas, salomon lord, k2 interceptor, or the scott punisher........all great one ski quiver for us east coasters or those of you out west who really like a versitle ski....

Some Rumors....

Bretton Woods is planning on trying to open this Saturday.....So bust out the rock skis, make sure the boots still fit, take the night off from the scene in downtown manchester so you can afford gas fill up the 4X4, dig out the ski clothing and head up to the woods to be the first in NH to ski!

Im not saying it is gonna be the best skiing you have had in years, but i mean come up, ill be there trying to link atleast a few wanna-be turns together....hopefully the colder weather and some possible rain showers might yeild some freshies for the morning.....

Who cares about colorado, there is nothing better than dodging rocks to ski in NH early in the season!
