Better time ahead for NH winter sports lovers.
Ah, rain we hate it this time of year but it is a good time to get all the pre winter chores done before we start to ski and ski we will. Here is a great article about why this winter will be better than ever for winter sports lovers

Snow is in the air!
Snowflakes may not be flying but the rumors of snowflakes flying certainly are.
Yep, there have been a couple of dustings up north to tease us but skiing is still a couple of weeks off.
(the longest weeks of every year)

I'm one of those that believe that any skiing is better than no skiing, so I will take any conditions anywhere as long as the areas open soon. I don't want to be thinking back at the end of the season about the days I should have/could have skied but didn't. So I ski every day I can.
( Tired, Sick, Sore, whatever, I will be on the slopes.)

I've skied on wet grass, slippery mud and hay just to get my turns in. I love it all.
See you soon... on the snow!

New Equipment
Every year IT happens... I get the urge to replace my perfectly good and serviceable skis with some shiny new version that promises to be more awesome; faster; smoother; better on hard snow; better in soft snow; whatever.
And every year I succumb!
I admit it.
But in my defense, I don't do the same with cars; boats; bikes whatever; just skis.
The technology, the new colors, a new size, all adds up to my excuse to replace skis that I swore I would never say goodbye to. Does anyone else have this (problem)?
This year will be no different as I have my eyes on this year's version of a ski I already own.(must be better).

Winters Coming!
Well, I know ski season's right around the corner when I spend my days unloading trucks with all the new product for the upcoming winter.
90 degrees and checking out all the new skis is a strange way to spend a day but I'll take it.

I've been doing this a long time but I still get excited each year with the promise of deep snow and fresh tracks.( but it all has to start with pricing, displaying and getting everything ready to go.)
If you have the fever too, stop by and take a look at the new stuff.( and possibly help me unload a truck or two.)

Well, Traveling around up north at the ski areas this time of year can be very interesting.
Lots to see and explore that you might not notice during the height of Winter.
Lots to see and explore that you might not notice during the height of Winter.
Different places to eat and shop, not to mention the hiking and biking that can be done at the areas themselves.
I am looking forward to getting back on the mountain bike after having some knee work done so the sight of bikes and ski areas make me train that much harder to get ready and back on the trails.(bike and ski)
One discovery I made years ago in northern NH is Harman's Cheese; truly a place to check out if you like cheeses and all things "general store"
Check it out;
Well, back to P.T and see you on the bike trails soon!

Spring Skiing
As the season winds down, I realize how much I like the sun and corn snow. This time of year brings the Sundecks, Cold Beer and Good Music, which can be as exciting and good for the soul as 12" of new snow in January.
Isn't all about hangin' with friends and enjoying the day what it's about anyway?
Daylight until 5 pm and no crowds make this my favorite time of year to ski.
Get out and rip it up before lawn mowing season starts!

Its been to long.....sorry
So as we roll into the second week of January 2010, its amazing to think about the ups and downs of this winter. Weeks of bitter cold, nothing but rain, excessive amounts of snow, there is nothing mother nature has not thrown our way to this point. Having tried to get out as much as possible this year, I have seen almost every type of condition that New England has to shell out. Packed powder, insane ice, the very rare powder day, or even days so cold that the snow could probably be confused with concrete; i have seen it all this winter.
But as I look back at it all, the best days have not really been affected by the weather. I think it is because to really truly enjoy skiing you have to try to enjoy the coldest days and the worse conditions. If you go out on the days that seem tough, it just makes the days with the best conditions even better. So next time you think its to cold, or the snow is to hard, or there is to much ice, buck up and go take a few turns.....i promise if you try to do this you will learn to enjoy skiing even more! Trust me , there is always fresh untracked snow to be found.....groomers to be carverd, and jibs to be shred....it just may not always be easy to find....
Its worth looking!
